The idea for these mirrors came to me while watching the injection molding machines purge plastic between product runs at M4 Factory. The purges themselves were interesting objects with swirled, crumpled, smooth textures all happening in one object.
While I was making “Cavity” I I transitioned between colors and started to purge the plastic into pancake-like disks. Then came the idea to make rings of purges that were the byproduct of making other objects at the residency. Interesting enough, these became my favorites from the residency and shifted how I was thinking about my practice :)
